HIMRAS?
With What Vision Is HIMRAS Started?
HIMRAS was born out of the need to uplift and empower the women artisans of Uttarakhand, who have long faced challenges such as limited market access, lack of recognition, and financial dependency. Despite their incredible skills in traditional Himalayan crafts, these artisans struggle to sustain themselves due to exploitation by middlemen, low wages, and the declining demand for handmade products in a mass-produced world.
At HIMRAS, our vision is to create a self-sustaining ecosystem where these women can thrive—economically, socially, and culturally. By connecting them directly to a global audience, we aim to:
- Ensure Fair Opportunities – Provide them with a platform to showcase and sell their handcrafted goods without exploitation.
- Preserve Himalayan Heritage – Keep the centuries-old craftsmanship alive by encouraging traditional techniques and sustainable practices.
- Promote Financial Independence – Help them earn a dignified livelihood and support their families.
- Build a Community of Empowered Women – Encourage skill development, leadership, and entrepreneurship among rural artisans.
HIMRAS is not just a brand; it's a movement towards empowerment, sustainability, and cultural preservation, ensuring that every handcrafted product carries a story of resilience, strength, and tradition.
